My Travel Chronicles

The Ultimate Sicilian Food Tour

My 2 favorite things in life are travel and food in that order. In my opinion, there is no better way to spend a vacation than to eat you way through it. Last week I planned to spend the weekend in Catania, Sicily so before I left I was surfing one of my FB Travel Groups for ideas of things to do in the area. I came across a food tour that someone suggested called the Streat Cantania Food Tour. I contacted the company and reserved my spot immediately. I simply sent an email and Glenda had my spot reserved through email in a very timely fashion. This walking tour…

12 Countries In 12 Months….DONE!! 24 Countries In 24 Months…..Let’s Go!!

In 2015, I started the year off by traveling to 3 countries all before the end of February. When I moved to Italy in May of 2015 my travel opportunities……..well lets just say, they grew considerably. If you remember last year I was researching Bucket List ideas and came across completing “12 Countries in 12 Months” and added it to my list. Why not, right? By the end of 2015, I accomplished “12 Countries In 12 Months” ……..and I decided to continue the Bucket List idea by going for “24 Countries In 24 Months” in 2016! Now I know you might be a little skeptical and might be questioning how I…

Cinque Terre……..the Second Time Around

It was Easter weekend and I had nothing planned (I know....not like me at all). I usually have everything ready to go and all I have to do is board the plane, but I don't know what was different about this weekend. I had my heart set on going to Naples, but I just couldn’t decide what to get into. Then out of nowhere a travel buddy says lets go to Cinque Terre............. I'm thinking to myself ...... been there, done that, I even tried talking him into going to Naples, but after doing the numbers it was more cost effective to head Cinque Terre and I was not about…

No Longer a Virgin..….Trinidad Carnival Part 1

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not much of a club girl or party animal. I am not one for large crowds and dealing with drunk idiots. However, I do love to dance and one thing I loved most about Trinidad's Carnival celebration was the fetes. Definition - A fete: to fete; feting: Not to be confused with an informal “lime”, a fete is a full-blown party with copious amounts of food and drink. The more crowded the fete, the better. Music and dancing are essential elements. Carnival season consists of A LOT of fetes all times of the day, every day! Fetes are much like people - They come in…

Wednesday Weekend Recap – Malta

In my 12 Countries in 12 months quest........My 11th country this year was Malta. [embed]http://youtu.be/Ru9icj94fQ0[/embed] I visited Malta over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Malta's tourist season is from the end of May until the end of October. You will find a lot of stores, restaurants and museums closed during the off season. The best reason to go during the off season is NO ONE is THERE!! You can get amazing pictures and enjoy the island without a million tourists. PLEASE be advised that during the off season it can get a little chilly with high winds, be prepared with a heavy coat, scarf and gloves just in case. The local's…
